“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.”

Quran 30:21

Families are the building blocks of a successful society, and in Islam families are formed through marriage. Your decision to marry is a spiritual covenant rooted in commitment to one another.

ICMG Dandenong facilitates the solemnisation of an Islamic contract of marriage. The newly married couple is provided with an official certificate to show they have been married according to Islamic Law.

We recommend booking the ceremony at least two weeks before the planned date. The summer months are busy for marriage ceremonies, so please book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

The groom, bride, her wali, and the two Muslim male witnesses should attend the ceremony in person. Otherwise the registrar or the imam must be informed of any issue while submitting the application.

Requirements for marriage

  • Valid passports of the bride and the groom.
  • Proof of residential address, whether in Australia or abroad (otherwise the address given on the booking form is registered on the certificate).
  • Conversion certificate for new Muslims (groom or bride).
  • Presence of two Muslim male witnesses, with their ID (if you don't have any, let us know so we can help organise this).
  • Presence of the wali (the bride's father, brother, or next responsible male kin).
  • A written declaration of the agreed dowry, signed by both.
  • If the bride has previously been married, an Islamic divorce certificate is required.

Booking a ceremony

If you are planning your Nikah at the mosque with only the contract signing and no setup, contact the office to let us know how many guests you expect.

If you would like a ceremony with setup and food served, contact the office to make a reservation.
