ICMG DANDENONG · PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Funeral Services
Body preparation, Janazah prayer, and burial arrangements.
إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
By the grace of Allah (swt), ICMG Dandenong provides all necessary services for death and burial. The centre has a designated space for performing the ghusl (washing) of the deceased.
We hope the following information can assist you during this time of need. Alhamdulillah, the mosque has the facilities and a caring team to help with the arrangements, and the cost to meet our expenses is nominal.
Services offered
- 1 Removing the deceased's body from the place of death and transporting it to our local facility.
- 2 Booking with a cemetery for the soonest appointment available.
- 3 Washing the deceased's body and shrouding it in the traditional Muslim way.
- 4 Performing the Janazah prayer.
- 5 Providing a hearse to transport the deceased to the cemetery.
- 6 Preparing a death certificate.
Cemetery
The mosque has access to Islamic burial grounds (Springvale Botanical Cemetery and Bunurong Memorial Park). We can complete the purchase of the gravesite and make the arrangements with the cemetery directly.
- Monday to Friday: regular services.
- Saturday, Sunday, and holidays: the cemetery imposes additional charges.
- Same day burial is possible most days if paperwork is ready before 9am.
Mortuary & ghusl
We have a well-equipped mortuary to give ghusl and prepare the body for burial, with a refrigerated room for storage if required. Our brothers and sisters are on call to give the ghusl and prepare the body when needed.
Salatul Janazah
The Salatul Janazah is performed within the mosque. Non-Muslim friends are welcome for funeral services, provided they follow the proper Islamic dress code.
What to do when a death occurs
- 1 Contact us so we are aware and can have our staff ready.
- 2 Have ready the full legal name of the deceased, date of birth, date of death, usual address, and age at passing. For the person reserving the grave we need their full legal name, address, contact number, and relation to the deceased.
- 3 If you have a grave reserved, we will need the grave's details and for its owner to attend our office and sign off for the burial.
- 4 Contact your local doctor to certify the death and issue a cause of death certificate.
- 5 Once the cause of death is issued, contact us to arrange the pickup and burial.
- 6 Attend our office to sign off for the burial and complete the paperwork so we can register the death and issue a death certificate.
